Michael McMann, Superintendent of the Fort Vermilion School Division, has been honored with the prestigious EXL Award for Excellence in School System Leadership by the College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS).
This accolade, sponsored by the Canadian Association of School System Administrators (CASSA), celebrates McMann’s exceptional leadership in advancing student success.
Under his guidance, the Fort Vermilion School Division has seen significant improvements, with literacy and numeracy proficiency soaring.
McMann’s innovative initiatives, such as the $12-million Building Futures Collegiate project, have redefined education in Alberta and gained international recognition.
He will receive the award at the CASS Special General Meeting on March 20, 2025, in Edmonton, and will be nominated for the national Nelson Excellence in Leadership Award.
McMann’s contributions extend beyond student success, with a focus on teacher mentorship and professional development, earning him numerous accolades, including the King Charles III Coronation Medal Award.
