Casey Szmata was awarded The King Charles III Coronation Medal by the Honourable Rick Wilson and Dan Williams for her exceptional work in mental health advocacy and suicide prevention in the Peace River region.
After the tragic loss of her daughter, Morgan, Casey channeled her grief into a mission to support and raise awareness in numerous Indigenous communities.
She was honored alongside 13 other distinguished individuals from Alberta’s Indigenous communities for their significant contributions.
The Resource Centre for Suicide Pprevention team extends their congratulations and gratitude to Casey for her unwavering dedication to this vital cause.
