High Prairie RCMP makes arrests in break and enter investigation

High Prairie, Alta. – Over the past several weeks, High Prairie RCMP has received multiple complaints regarding break and enters in the High Prairie area. An investigation was quickly initiated but little evidence was to be found at the various locations. This changed after a break and enter took place at I&P Mechanic on March 15, 2025. The cameras installed at the business were able to capture the three suspects, two of which were identified and subsequently arrested by High Prairie RCMP. The third suspect, who was brandishing a firearm at the time, has yet to be identified.

As a result of the investigation, the following two suspects were arrested and charged:

  • Chelsie Courtney Lamouche (33), a resident of Atikameg First Nation, Alta., was arrested on March 18, 2025, and charged with:
    • Unlawful possession of a firearm;
    • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
    • Break and enter;
    • Theft over $5000; and
    • Mischief under $5000.
  • Jake Bouchard (30), a resident of High Prairie, was arrested on March 19, 2025 and charged with:
    • Break and enter;
    • Theft over $5000; and
    • Mischief under $5000.

Lamouche and Bouchard were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. Lamouche is to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in High Prairie on April 2, 2025, while Bouchard is to appear before the same court on March 31, 2025.

“We would like to take this time to remind the public of the importance of protecting their property” said Sgt. Jason Barber, Detachment Commander of the High Prairie RCMP. “Steps like adding security cameras may deter potential criminal activity on your property and, furthermore, if a crime is committed, the footage makes it easier to identify and subsequently arrest those involved. High Prairie RCMP takes the safety of the public, as well as their hard-earned belongings, seriously and will fully investigate all complaints, ensuring the continued safety of our community.”

High Prairie RCMP is seeking public assistance in identifying the third suspect and has been led to believe that members of the community may know their identity. Anyone with information is asked to please contact the High Prairie RCMP at 780-523-3378, or your local police.
