The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has wrapped up its investigation into a 2020 incident involving High Prairie RCMP and a suspect at Sucker Creek First Nation.

The probe focused on the arrest of a man who ended up hospitalized for two days.

Officers from Lakeshore Regional Police Services and High Prairie RCMP responded to reports of the man being an unwanted guest, causing damage, and possibly possessing a knife.

Upon arrival, the man, who had blood stains and threatened police, was tased twice and taken outside.

Despite being responsive initially, he later showed signs of a seizure, prompting EMS to transport him to the hospital.

The man, who had been drinking heavily while mourning a relative, couldn’t recall the incident. ASIRT concluded that the officers acted lawfully and appropriately.
