More Measles Cases in Alberta, than all of USA since March.

ahs-logo-jpg-2

Alberta has now surpassed the U.S. in confirmed measles cases, with 1,314 reported since March—30 of them just this past weekend.

That’s more than the 1,288 cases across 39 U.S. states so far this year.

While Alberta hasn’t seen any deaths, the U.S. has reported three, including two children.

Experts like Dr. Craig Jenne say Alberta’s low vaccination rates have fueled the rapid spread.

He warns the outbreak may not be contained before fall—putting Canada’s measles eradication status, held since 1998, at risk.
