  1. The Provincial Government is earmarking nearly $115 million dollars to 86 infrastructure projects across Alberta.
    Saddle Hills County, Northern Sunrise County, the MD of Smoky River, Mackenzie County, the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement, the village of Girouxville, and the town of McLennan, are also receiving funds.
  2. A lot of negative reaction is coming in on the new tariffs imposed by China on Canola in Canada.
    The nearly 76% tariff on a market, that is one of the country’s largest, has caused prices for the resource to drop drastically. (Andre Harpe interview in separate story)
  3. The Peace River Chamber of Commerce getting set for their Fall Job Fair, happening next month.
    Right now, registration for businesses and employers, who are hiring, are being accepted for this showcase to connect with the community.
  4. Misery Mountain Ski Resort in Peace River, has a new attraction. The new Disc Golf Course is now open for enjoyment of the last few weeks of summer.
    Hours of operation are Wednesday to Friday from 10-5, where no booking is needed, and weekends, where advanced booking is required.
  5. Schedules should be coming out in the next week or so, for High School and Bantam Football in the Peace Region.
    The High School leagues in and around Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary start their regular season this weekend, while the rural leagues will start just after the Long Weekend.
  6. Exhibition schedules are coming out in the NWJHL. The first game is tomorrow night with Sexsmith in Beaverlodge.
    The North Peace Navigators play three Exhibition games after September long. The regular season starts September 12.
  7. The Toronto Blue Jays have the day off today before starting a three-game set in Miami tomorrow.
  8. A mix of sun and cloud is forecasted for the Northwest on this practice Friday. Highs this afternoon are in the low 20’s, except for just 18 in the Big Lakes.
    Partly cloudy skies for tonight with possible frosty lows of just above 5. Clouds start burning off tomorrow, and digits will get higher by the weekend, possibly hitting 30 by next week.
