UPDATE
High Prairie RCMP would like to advise the public that, thanks to information provided by members of the community, the suspect has been located and arrested. Alberta RCMP thanks the public for their cooperation.
An update is anticipated once the investigation is complete.
BACKGROUND
At approximately 7:55 AM today (Sept. 10), High Prairie RCMP responded to reports of a male in the Atikameg area muttering to himself while swinging and pointing a machete.
Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect, known to police with a history of violent behavior.
The individual fled into wooded area and is currently being sought by authorities.
The suspect was last seen wearing a black hoodie and white pants adorned with weed stickers.
Residents are urged not to approach him and to report any sightings or suspicious activity to the High Prairie RCMP.
