  1. The town and the MD of Fairview are holding special meetings to discuss the next steps against the closing of Northwestern Polytechnic in town.
  2. Town of Fairview is holding a Town Hall tomorrow night at 7:00 at the Dunvegan Inn to discuss the closure, and the impact on the community.
  3. The town of Fairview has written a letter to the Provincial Government regarding the pending NWP closure.
  4. A busy wildfire season is over for 2025, and officials are reflecting on it. The season ended on Hallowe’en with fires, and area burnt being on average this year. (tannis McNabb interview in separate story)
  5. Mayors, councillors, and chairs have also been selected and sworn in as representative in towns, hamlets, MD’s, Counties, and school boards across the region.
  6. Prime Minister Mark Carney’s first federal budget reveals a projected $78.3-billion deficit for the current fiscal year, nearly double what the Liberals forecast a year ago.
  7. NWJHL tonight… Sexsmith is in Fairview, the Vipers are 7-10-1, the Flyers are 4-10-1.
  8. The NWJHL awarded their player of the week award winners, and they’re both goaltenders. Vaughn Kaliel of Grande Prairie is the North/South Division winner.
    Zandon Harris of Dawson Creek is the East/West Division winner.
  9. AJHL tonight… The Grande Prairie Storm continue their South Division roadtrip with a game tonight in Banff against Canmore.
  10. Five games in the NHL tonight… Columbus is in Calgary, Chicago is in Vancouver, Utah is in Toronto, St. Louis is in Washington, and San Jose is in Seattle.
  11. Today is not going to be bad, but the snow will start to fall tonight, and will continue to fall until into Friday.
    5-10 cm will hit the ground in the Peace and Big Lakes, while 2 cm will fall in the Mackenzie.
    Highs during the day will be around the freezing mark with lows being steady around the zero-degree mark. Skies will begin to start clearing out by the weekend.
