  1. Police in Red Earth Creek continue to search for suspects after a Shelter in Place in the Hamlet, and the Peerless Lake area.
    During the afternoon on Saturday, a robbery was committed, where several firearms were stolen.
    That evening, the suspect vehicle and three suspects were spotted, but fled into the woods, possibly taking the firearms with them.
  2. RCMP in Slave Lake have residents from Peavine and Slave Lake in custody on drugs and weapons charges.
    30 year-old Shelby Carifelle of Peavine, and 32 year-old Joey Bigstone of Slave Lake were arrested, and face the judge in December.
  3. Metis culture, history, and resilience are being celebrated this week during Metis week in Northwestern Alberta.
    Events are taking place in various jurisdictions, including a flag-raising ceremony this morning at the High Prairie Town Office, a celebration on Wednesday at the Region 6 Metis Nation office in Peace River, plus education sessions on Wednesday, hosted by Northern Lakes College online.
  4. Holiday Smile Cookie week takes place at Tim Hortons around the area, with a different look to the treats.
    The cookie is a white chocolate sugar cookie, decorated with red and green sprinkles, and features a handcrafted smile.
  5. Local High School football in the Peace Region is done for this year.
    Millwoods Christian of Edmonton beat Peace River 38-22, while Wainwright beat Valleyview 34-6 in Saturday’s provincial quarter-final.
    The semis this weekend are Millwoods Christian at Wainwright, and Ponoka at Bonnyville.
  6. Three Canadian teams in action in the NHL today. Edmonton is in Buffalo, Vancouver is in Florida, and Montreal is in Columbus.
  7. Final preparations are being put in place for the Canadian Olympic Curling trials happening in Halifax later this week.
    Nampa’s Kayla Skrlik is in the field and will play Selena Sturmay is her first draw.
  8. The snow will end this afternoon in the Peace and Mackenzie, and skies will clear out for the remainder of this week.
    The Big Lakes will see a chance of flurries, but will also see the sun at times this week.
    Temps are remaining below zero, with the coolest stretch being tonight and into tomorrow. Digits might warm up by the weekend.
