At its December 10 meeting, Grimshaw Town Council approved increased financial support for two key community initiatives.
Council voted to donate $7,000 to support the 6th Annual Harvest Moon Festival. This September event has expanded over the years and become a community staple. This is a finding increase, which organizers had requested to help cover event costs and ensure the festival’s continued success.
Council also approved an increase in funding for the Grimshaw Regional Healthcare Attraction and Retention Committee. The additional funding is intended to support ongoing efforts to recruit and retain healthcare professionals in the region, a priority identified by both council and community members.
Other meeting highlights included, a presentation from the Grimshaw Municipal Library, Lac Cardinal Economic Development also presented on the Enabling Housing Choice North Project, Council approving the interim operating capital budget which will be used until the final budget is passed in early 2026, and Mayor Stacey Messner will be presenting on behalf of Council at the Electoral Boundary Commission hearing.
The next Council meeting comes in the New Year on January 14.
