  1. Jail time has been given to a man from Manning after pleading guilty to theft charges.
    Mason Gordon Lane was given 4 months, minus time served, for an incident in Grande Prairie.
    The co-accused, Chelsea Lauren Goddard, also of Manning, was given a conditional discharge and six months’ probation.

  2. A sentence will be handed down in March, after a man was found guilty of charges in a shooting death at Sturgeon Lake.
    Vincent Campiou will learn his fate after being convicted of manslaughter and careless use of a firearm.
    59 year old Patricia Campiou passed away in the incident, after police were called in March of 2023.

  3. RCMP are reminding drivers and pedestrians to be careful because of icy conditions on roadways and sidewalks.
    The recent warm weather had caused a lot of the snow to melt, but conditions are allowing the water to freeze.

  4. Hospitals across the province are feeling a lot of pressure these days with crowded emergency rooms and some places dealing with doctor shortages. (Sarah Hoffman interview in separate story)
  5. Energy Alberta is continuing with the consultation stage of the proposed Peace River Nuclear Power project.
    A pop-up information session took place at J’s Java Domain downtown for people to gather more input and answer more questions, regarding the proposal. (Katie McKinnon interview in separate story)

  6. As Prime Minister Mark Carney meets with Chinese officials this week, canola farmers across Alberta are watching closely, hoping the visit could lead to a breakthrough on steep Chinese tariffs that have choked off one of their most important export markets.

  7. High School Basketball is taking place this weekend in Peace River with the Bob Plowman Invitational.
    16 teams from around the area are at Glenmary School for the event.
    Action is underway, with the Championship game being at 4:15 tomorrow afternoon.

  8. NWJHL this weekend… FSJ is in Dawson Creek tonight.
    FSJ is in Fairview, La Crete is in Peace River, and Beaverlodge is in Sexsmith tomorrow.
    North Peace is in FSJ and Fairview is in Dawson Creek on Sunday.

  9. NPHL this weekend… Fox Creek is in Manning and Grande Prairie is in FSJ tonight.
    High Prairie is in Dawson Creek, Manning is in Valleyview, and Spirit River is in Grande Prairie tomorrow.

  10. AEHL this weekend…
    The U-13’s play tonight at home to Fort McMurray, tomorrow in Falher, and Sunday in Dawson Creek.
    The U-15’s are off. The U-18’s play 3 on the road.

  11. NJHL this weekend… The High Prairie Red Wings play tonight in Hinton, tomorrow at home to Kanai, and Sunday at home to Hinton.

  12. AJHL this weekend… The Grande Prairie Storm play tomorrow and Sunday at home to Drumheller.

  13. The temperatures for the next few days may feel like a bit of a yo-yo.
    Today highs will be -4 for the Peace and Big Lakes and -13 in the Mackenzie, then get up above 0 tomorrow before going back down again on Sunday.
    Skies however will be remaining decent for the next week or so.
