High Prairie Officials Seeks Public Help After Crosswalk Pole Damaged in Hit-and-Run

The Town of High Prairie is asking for the public’s assistance after a piece of municipal infrastructure was damaged in a late-night hit-and-run last week.
According to High Prairie Enforcement Services, an advanced crosswalk pole was struck by a truck between 10:30pm and 10:50pm on Tuesday, January 13. The incident occurred near the intersection of 48 Street and 55 Avenue.
Officials say the vehicle involved left the scene following the collision and was last seen travelling eastbound on 55 Avenue. No further details about the truck have been released at this time.
Enforcement Services is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, noticed a truck with visible damage, or has dash-cam or security camera footage from the area during that time frame to come forward.
“All tips and information provided will remain anonymous,” the Town stated, noting that identifying the responsible party is important to ensure repair costs are not passed on to taxpayers.
“The Town of High Prairie takes great pride in the infrastructure we own, and taxpayers should not be responsible for the cost of repairs resulting from someone else’s actions,” the notice added.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Senior Community Peace Officer Brady Snow at 780-536-5720 or by email at b.snow@highprairie.ca.
Town officials thank residents for their assistance in helping protect community infrastructure and public resources.
