Northern Sunrise County Council has approved $25,000 in funding to support transportation services for the Mobile Outreach Street Team (MOST) program.

At its February 10 meeting, Melissa Geldart with the Sagitawa Friendship Society presented an update on the program, which has been operating locally since August 2023 through the Mental Health and Addictions Task Force.

Geldart reported that MOST has delivered 12,917 outreach points of service between August 2023 and October 2025, along with 448 community calls for service in its first year. The program focuses on building trust with marginalized individuals, reducing stigma, and addressing street-level social disorder.

Council heard that MOST is currently operating at reduced mobile capacity due to staffing shortages and limited access to a vehicle, which is prioritized for transportation tied to the Peace River Correctional Centre contract.

To return the program to full operation, Sagitawa estimates it requires approximately $150,000 annually, compared to just over $45,000 currently secured. The organization continues to pursue additional grant funding.
