- The weather in the Northwest is starting to clear up from the latest blast of winter.
That means Snow Removal has begun in various jurisdictions on roads and back alleys. - Jail time has been given to a Peace River woman on a drug case in Grande Prairie.
Rosanna Vivian Carifelle was sentenced to just less than two years for trafficking and flight from a police officer. - From the RCMP Weekly Wanted file, police in the area are continuing to look for Pavel Kozlov Laboucan.
His last whereabouts was in Atikameg, as is known for activities in Atikameg, Gift Lake and Cadotte Lake. - Classroom complexity has been a major talking point in Alberta’s schools and some work has been done by the provincial government to try and address that. - Speeding is a hot topic in Berwyn, and Council is wanting to see it combated.
The possibilities of Stop Signs, the reduction of Speed limits, and the adding of Speed bumps are being discussed. - The Provincial Government is investing $28 million dollars into new technologies to help increase energy production.
- At the Olympics, Canada, at some point will be playing for a medal in both hockey and curling.
On the pebbled ice, the women qualified for the playoffs with a 10-7 win over Korea. They play Sweden tomorrow morning in the semi-finals.
The men lost to Norway 8-6 this morning in a mean-nothing draw, they play the Norwegians in this afternoon’s semi-final.
In the hockey rink, the women play the USA for Gold this afternoon. The men play Finland in tomorrow morning’s semi-final. - Right now Canada has 14 medals Four Gold, Four Silver and Six Bronze, good to be 11th on the table.
- The cold is sticking around until at least the weekend, the fierceness of the wind has at least eased up in the Northwest.
Highs are just above -20 this afternoon, with the sun maybe peaking through at times. Lows are pushing -30, which means the block heater chord is still needed.
Digits might finally go up, starting next week.
