Clear Hills County is alerting residents and local businesses to an increase in spam and fraudulent emails falsely claiming to represent the municipality.
County officials say the messages often request payment or personal information related to services such as development permits. Administration is reminding the public that the County does not charge fees for Development Permits, and any such request should be treated as suspicious.
Residents are encouraged to verify the legitimacy of any communication before responding. Authentic County emails will come from addresses ending in “@clearhillscounty.ab.ca.” Anyone unsure about a message is urged to contact the County.
Clear Hills County Administration is emphasizing the importance of vigilance as scams become more common, and is asking the public to take extra precautions to protect personal and financial information.
