RCMP Recruits and deploys locally

The Alberta RCMP is bolstering its ranks with 21 new officers, each a recent graduate from the RCMP’s Cad Training Program in Regina.

These officers will be stationed in communities including Barrhead, Cardston, Chateh, Coronation, Drayton Valley, Fort Vermilion, High Prairie, Hinton, Lloydminster, McLennan, Piikani Nation, Provost, Redcliff, Red Earth Creek, Stettler, St. Paul, Valleyview, Vegreville, Wainwright, and Wood Buffalo.

This recruitment reflects a positive trend, over 5,700 applications received since April 2024.

Additionally, the Experienced Police Officer Program has welcomed 25 officers since April 2025, with 33 applications in process.

Deputy Trevor Daroux emphasized the RCMP’s commitment to enhancing visibility and staffing levels, stating, “These new police officers are an example of our focus to look inward at our hiring processes to remove barriers, find efficiencies, and ensure the most qualified applicants are to serve.”

To further address vacancies, the Alberta RCMP’s Relief Team has planned 65 deployments 16 detachments in 2026, and 34 active reservists currently supporting frontline policing, with 11 more in the application process.
