Alberta Inflation Slows

Consumer prices in Alberta put the brakes on in November, as it marked one of the lowest inflation rates in close to a year.  According to the latest inflation report for Statistics Canada, our province’s price grew by 1.9 percent compared to December 2013.  ATB Financial says the slowdown was driven mostly by declining gas and energy prices, the two notoriously volatile items in the goods and services used to calculate inflation.  In Alberta, gas fell 12 percent while energy fell by nearly 4.5 percent from October.  StatsCan says other notable declines came in the clothing and footwear sectors, as well as in the transportation area.
