Blockbuster Comeback ???

Blockbuster’s website and social media accounts are back from the dead but what does that mean for the once video rental giant? Well the company that once had over 9,000 locations is down to just 1 in Bend, Oregon, and at one point did a digital rental and movie purchase site but that ultimately failed due to the rise of Netflix and other streaming services.

Blockbuster is owned by DISH Network, who launched a streaming service so maybe that is the future for the company in joining the streaming battle once again with the current DISH streaming service being replaced under the Blockbuster brand.

The brand had a TV show that lasted 1 season on Netflix which helped bring the once popular Friday night spot back into the public consciousness.

The company website just shows this image:

The twitter account that was only being used to promote the since cancelled show had tweeted out this last week:

Only time will tell what DISH is up to with Blockbuster, but my interest has been peaked. We are seeing brands like here in Canada Zellers making a comeback so maybe that is the idea here.
