A series of town halls through the Peace River-Westlock riding are being hosted by the Maverick Party and their candidate for this fall’s Federal election, Colin Krieger. Last night, August 19, 2021, Krieger invited constituents from the Peace River area to join him as he discussed policies of the Maverick party.

“The Maverick Party platform is a twin track solution,” says Krieger. “Track A is when a Maverick MP gets to Ottawa, their goal will be to achieve constitutional reform first and foremost on a variety of different issues in order to achieve a fair deal for the west. The Maverick Party being a west only party, we want to be a regional party that only represents the western provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. We want to get constitutional change to achieve a fair deal within Canada. But if we can’t, [Track B] will also begin the process of moving towards western independence on all of its different forms up to and including an individual state in each province.”

During his time speaking, most of which was away from his notes, Krieger brought up Policies such as self defense, representative recall, vote splitting, “common sense gun control”, indigenous affairs and the combination of climate change with energy. A Question was asked from attendee about policies on capitol punishment to which the Maverick party does not currently have any policy on. Another attendee asked about international relations and the party’s stance which Krieger touched on the topic of the United Nations Declaration on the rights of Indigenous Peoples as a talking point.

A foldout with Maverick Party slogans and information was present at the town hall.

Krieger and the Maverick party have more town halls planned throughout the Peace River-Westlock riding.
