Yeah you read that right. And I’m not even making it up. Here’s the full story if you want to read it:
But if you don’t feel like clicking that link, here’s the TL;DR.
Some dudes* (*Don’t really know who or why) were poking around an old abandoned nuke bunker in Poland. In this bunker they found an ant colony. Ants from this colony had an unfortunate habit of falling down the same hole on a regular basis. At the bottom of this hole there was no way to return to the colony and also no food. So the ants started eating each other to survive. They did this game for an undetermined amount of time but we can assume it was for a while.
So what did the buggy scientists do? Well naturally you gotta build some scaffolding so the hardcore cannibal ants can get back to being chill ants, have families and watch Oprah. They were curious if they would continue to Hills-have-eyes the rest of the colony but they kinda just hung up their hats like “hey we’re home” and went back to doing ant things.
Moral of the story: Don’t judge a book by it’s cover because this story somehow manages to have a happy ending despite also having cannibal Polish nuke ants.
Whoever was poking around in an abandoned nuclear bunker had some weird priorities to be like “hey look at these neat ants. Some real cool ants in here”
