Charges Laid After Domestic Dispute In John D’or Prairie

RCMP officers in Fort Vermilion have laid several charges after dealing with a domestic dispute in John D’Or Prairie.

Police were called to investigate last Monday morning after a victim had reported that they had been assaulted and threatened with a knife.

Further evaluation of the scene by the General Duty Investigators, lead to additional information coming forward of multiple criminal offences.

These additional criminal offences, were alleged to have taken place over the course of two days.

The investigation lead to a 41 year old man from John D’or Prairie being arrested.

Rueben Johnny Nanooch has been charged with:

· Assault – Sect. 266 of the Criminal Code
· Uttering Threats against a person – Sect. 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (x2)
· Forcible Confinement – Sect. 279(2) of the Criminal Code (x2)
· Assault with a Weapon – Sect. 267(a) of the Criminal Code
· Mischief under $5000 – Sect. 430(4) of the Criminal Code (x2)
· Possession of a Weapon for dangerous purpose – Sect. 88(2) of the Criminal Code

He’ll make court appearance in Fort Vermilion on December 22.
