A child relief care provider from the peace region has been arrested on child pornography charges.
52-year-old Royal “Mac” Olsen was taken into custody by ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation unit last week in his Donnelly home, and was assisted by McLennen RCMP.
At this point in the investigation, ICE has no reason to suspect any children in his care were victimized. A number of computers and electronic devices were seized and a full forensic examination is underway.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided ICE about an unknown man from Alberta uploading child pornography in July of 2018 and upon investigation ICE determined Olsen as the suspect.
in addition to being a child relief care provider, Olsen also currently serves in the village of Donnelly town council.
Olsen has been charged with possession and distribution of child pornography, anyone with any information is encouraged to contact police or cybertip.ca
