Controversial Change will make PI easier for Students

I’ve been following this story for awhile now…

A committee down in the States was tasked with making PI easier to memorize.

There was talk that even just eliminating all the other digits would be ok… simply making pi 3.14

But there are those that still think that’s too hard for kids to learn.

Then for awhile it looked like they were going to recommend changing it to 3.2

Shouldn’t be too hard to remember that right?

Nope? Apparently that’s too difficult as well… so they decided to just simply change pi to 3.

The change will go into effect in the next curriculum, which is planned for the 2023-24 school year.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and our Education Minister is meeting with the U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona next week to discuss how they’re implementing it South of the border, and whether or not we should make the change in Canada.

Insiders are saying that we’ll likely go with changing pi from 3.14 as well… and round it to 3.

Should be a lot easier for students. I wish they would have made the change years ago!
