COVID-19 UPDATE: March 11

On March 11, Alberta Health Services confirmed 364 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 137,137.

Five people passed away, which means 1,933 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

259 people are currently in hospital due to COVID.

In the North Zone, there are 12,566 cases of COVID-19 and 141 people have passed away.

There are currently 813 active cases in our zone with 132 in Mackenzie County, 43 in the MD of Peace, 41 in the MD of Greenview, five in the County of Northern Lights and Northern Sunrise County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have four or less active cases.

AHS is reporting that 130,716 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 4,488 active cases across Alberta.

Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:

  • Grimshaw/Berwyn Community Health Centre
  • Knowledge Tree Childcare Centre, Valleyview
  • Peace River Correctional Centre
  • Valleyview Health Centre

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.

The Government of Alberta also made masks mandatory indoors
