COVID-19 UPDATE: March 24

On March 24, Alberta Health Services confirmed 692 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 143,547.

Two people passed away, which means 1,973 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

285 people are currently in hospital due to COVID.

In the North Zone, there are 13,390 cases of COVID-19 and 143 people have passed away.

There are currently 788 active cases in our zone with 193 in Mackenzie County, 29 in the MD of Greenview, 15 in the MD of Peace, six in Big Lakes County, while all other jurisdictions in our area have four or less active cases.

AHS is reporting that 135,040 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 6,534 active cases across Alberta.

Outbreaks have been declared at the following facilities:

  • Mighty Peace Chevrolet, Buick, GMC
  • Peace River Correctional Centre
  • Valleyview Health Centre

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.

The Government of Alberta also made masks mandatory indoors.
