COVID-19 Update: May 15

As part of her daily COVID-19 briefing, Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health, Doctor Deena Hinshaw says outdoor gatherings can now have a limit of 50 people.

Hinshaw also said that if such gatherings are taking people, people need to maintain a physical distance of at least two metres.

She also strongly advises against people sharing food and drinks and says indoor gatherings are still limited to 15 people.

On May 15, Alberta Health Services confirmed 58 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 6,515.

It was also reported that four people in the Calgary Zone passed away.

125 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

In the North Zone, there are 228 cases of COVID-19 and 15 people have passed away.

There are currently 18 active cases in our zone.

AHS is reporting that 5,317 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 1,073 active cases across Alberta.

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing one’s hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
