COVID-19 UPDATE: October 9

On October 9, Alberta Health Services confirmed 277 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 19,995.

One person passed away over the last 24 hours, and 282 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.

In the North Zone, there are 1,523 cases of COVID-19 and 35 people have passed away.

There are currently 105 active cases in our zone with eight cases in Mackenzie County, while all other areas in our area have four active cases or less.

AHS is reporting that 17,488 people have recovered from the virus.

This means that there are currently 2,225 active cases across Alberta.

To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
