The development of a new Peavey Mart on Peace River’s West Hill is moving forward.

At a special Town of Peace River council meeting, Alisha Mody, Manager of Planning & Development, gave a report on an agreement that was reached between the Town and Peavey Industries.  The developers agreed to abide by the town’s existing bylaws, when it comes to the installation of light posts and sidewalks.

Earlier in the week a letter from Peavey Industries CFO Kevin Higa was presented in a briefing report.
He brought up concerns about having to budget for building sidewalks and light posts on Town Property, and felt that council should move to cover that part of the development cost. In the letter, Higa also brought up the fact that skyrocketing material costs already could potentially hinder the decision to go through with building a new Peavey Mart.

Staff met with a delegation from the developers, and a proposal was agreed upon.
At this point the development permit to build an over 21 thousand square foot store will continue to move forward.

The new Peavey Mart will be located between Freson Bros. and Cheviot Heights
