The NWJHL’s Fairview Flyers are now into their offseason work.

Head Coach and GM Lance Wiebe says this past season had lots of ups and downs.

“We started off fairly good. We put together a pretty strong club and then as time went on the injury bug ended up biting us a little bit. We fought through that for most of the season. We thought we put together a good year and we were hoping to plug along a lot further into the playoffs. Unfortunately, the injury bug ran into us again.”

The team finished fifth in the league standings with a record of 14-23-3 for 31 points before losing in the first round of the playoffs to the Dawson Creek Kodiaks.

With their top four scorers from this season (Eric Dentinger, Cale Fox, Rylee Hebert and Tristyn Corliss) now done their junior hockey careers, Wiebe says they have some big spots to fill on their roster.

“Each year you look at guys that are in that midget age group and all over the place. In plans of filling spots, we do have guys that we’ve been watching this season and been talking with them all season in preparation for that, then we hit the ground running come spring season for some junior camps and different things and try to fill that roster.”
