The Trending 55 Newsroom is continuing our look into the local candidates running in the federal election.

Darryl Boisson is the People’s Party candidate for Peace River-Westlock, he says his party can address several federal issues that are big locally.

“For one thing, this gun grab. I’m sure everybody around here is quite familiar with Trudeau’s gun grab, and pipelines. No government, even Harper the whole time he was in politics, he could’ve run these pipelines through. It’s federal jurisdiction to be able to do that from coast to coast. Maxime Bernier said he’ll do that because it’s in the interest of the whole country.”

Boisson also says he’s heard a lot from people concerned about possible vaccine passports and quote “the loss of our freedoms.”

“People just aren’t happy about those things. This is what I’m finding is that people don’t trust the government no more. They don’t know what’s coming next, that passports are reminiscent of 1942 war times and people are scared.”

Boisson previously ran in the 2012 and 2015 provincial elections as the Wildrose Party candidate in Lesser Slave Lake
