First Nations Art Courses at Peace River’s Museum

This weekend, the Peace River Museum will be offering cultural instruction and hands-on Aboriginal art for youth between the ages of 8 and 12 years.  Tanys Oxman, the First Nations, Metis and Inuit Coordinator with Grimshaw’s Holy Family School, will be teaching the course.  The craft items of the day includes modern day wampum belts and par fleche bags, with participants also learning aout the cultural and historical significance associated with each of these objects.  The free sessions run Saturday, February 21st and Saturday, February 28th from 1 to 3 PM.  While the course is free, admission to the museum itself costs 2 dollars.  And, as there’s only 12 spots available, all participants must pre-register.
