First Time Seeing Peace Players

Back on Friday night I went to take in the Peace Players for the first time and saw their performance of “Something Rotten.” I would’ve checked it out the first weekend but my schedule wouldn’t allow it. I have never seen a musical in person, I mean I have seen musical tv episodes and movies but never an actual stage production one. I was not sure what to expect with acting vs singing but I thought it was very well done.  There were some really great singers and plenty of great comedy that had me laughing.

When it came to the performances I felt that Brandon Enns (Nigel Bottom), Sarah Kyle (Bea Bottom) and Alix Cartwright (Nostradamus) were the biggest standouts notably with comedy with Sarah being I think the strongest singer in the cast. Jeremy Johnson was quiet good on the role of Nick Bottom and quiet enjoyed seeing Donna Johnson as Brother Jeremiah with Sarah Bowman as Portia portraying that stern father-daughter relationship. The cast, musicians, directors and choreographers should be really proud of what they accomplished and put out on that stage for us to see.

Finally checking out a Peace Players production was a great thing that I wish I had done sooner as it is great community theatre that makes for a great night out. While I am not sure what Encore III is I certainly want to check it out in late February/Early March. Auditions for which will begin at 11am this Saturday, December 17 at Athabasca Hall in Peace River.
