The Town of Peace River is mourning the loss of a former alderman.

According to a statement on the town’s website, former councillor, Rod Burr passed away Tuesday morning.

Burr served on council in the previous term from 2013-17.

“Rod was the most principled man I have ever met,” says Mayor Tom Tarpey, who served with Burr on council.

“We were all lucky to have had him as Councillor and Civil Servant.”

Burr served on various roles in his term, including on the library board as well as the Peace Regional Waste Management Company.

Flags within the town will be lowered to half-mast until at least Friday to honour Burr’s memory.
