High Level Council is bringing back the discussion on mandatory face coverings.

The bylaw is currently under debate in council after it was defeated in August.

The town is currently polling its residents and business owners to get an idea of support for a mandatory mask bylaw.

High Level Chief Administrative Officer, Clark McAskile says this prospective bylaw is similar to the one that was defeated in August.

“One thing that went into this bylaw was a trigger clause,” explains McAskile.

“It would not take effect until there is ex amount of cases in the area.”

He adds that the area council has chosen is the Mackenzie County zone, as outlined by Alberta Health Services.

The bylaw will be brought before council on October 26 for second reading.

The town also handed out surveys to residents and business owners and those are due on Wednesday.
