A couple of Peace River organizations have received grants from the Province for improving mental health supports.

Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Jason Luan says the Sagitawa Friendship Society got $70,000 and Peace Regional Outreach Student And Daycare Support Society got $75,000.

“I want to applaud all of them for stepping up to the plate to play a role in helping people who are isolated and using unique culturally appropriate techniques when doing so. Together, I think they along with many other non-profit organizations have provided a huge support for people in this difficult time.”

Luan says the investments they’ve made into Mental Health supports are about making those services more accessible for all Albertans.

“Today in Alberta, it doesn’t matter where you are, 24/7 you can access mental health support services. The 2-1-1 service, anybody can dial that number and somebody trained on the other end will match what your needs are and connect you to where you have the services available for you.”
