Kenney announces At Home Learning and more Restrictions

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney held a press conference Tuesday Evening to announce more restrictions for the province.

Starting Wednesday, May 5th, stronger public health measures will start rolling out for high case regions with at least 50 cases  per 100,000 people, and a minimum of 30 overall active cases.

These restrictions include:

-Outdoor gatherings capped at 5 people from a maximum of 2 households, with mandatory social distancing. (May 5)

-Indoor Fitness & Rec Centres must close as of 11:59pm on May 9th

-Retail Services must limit customers to 10% capacity (May 5)

-Personal and Wellness Services, including hair salons, barbers, nail salons, esthetics, tattoos and piercing, must close after 11:59pm on May 9th

-Faith Services are limited to 15 in-person attendees (May 5)

-10 People maximum at funerals (May 5)

-Working from home remains mandatory unless the employer requires the workers physical presence to operate effectively. (May 5)

These Provincewide restrictions go into effect this week:

-Kindergarten through grade 12 will transition to online learning as of Friday, May 7th

-Post-secondary schools will transition to online learning as of Wednesday, May 5th

-Note: Childcare facilities can remain open

-Restaurants, Pubs, Bars, Lounges, and Cafes: All in-person dining is prohibited (patios included). Takeout and Delivery is allowed.
