Loewen Concerned Over Trucking Vaccine Mandates

Central Peace-Notley MLA Todd Loewen wants the province to take a stronger stand against the federal vaccine mandates in the trucking industry.

American truckers have to be vaccinated to cross the border and Loewen says that will affect the supply of goods that people need.

“A lot of our products are shipped in and out by truck. Anything that we see that could influence or change the access of our goods being shipped in and out is obviously gonna be a detriment to the economy and to the supply chain. We’re already seeing shortages in products and food and different things and we don’t need to see anymore.”

Loewen says he’s calling on Alberta Premier Jason Kenney to take a stronger stand against the federal government on this issue.

“This is a premier that campaigned on standing up to the federal government and demanding our fair share and to be treated properly here in Alberta and he’s done none of that. This is another case where he’s left Albertans hanging and hasn’t represented us strongly enough. There’s things that can be done and I think we should be using everything we possibly can to make sure that we’re not negatively influenced by Ottawa’s poor decisions.”
