Majority of voters to newsroom poll oppose a mandatory mask bylaw as weekly poll shatters record for most votes

The results are in!

For last week’s Trending 55 Newsroom’s Poll of the Week, over 2,400 people voted, which is more than double the 1,200 votes we received for a poll in April.

We asked if you would support a mandatory mask bylaw in your community, should one be passed.

Around 64 percent of voters oppose a mandatory face coverings bylaw, which comes out to around 1,500 votes.

844 people indicated they would like to see face masks made mandatory in their community.

Peace River and High Level councils are debating the issue and both towns have released surveys seeking further input from: residents, business owners as well as visitors.

This week, we are asking a question we have previously posed.

With in-class learning set to resume in the next couple of weeks, would you be comfortable sending your children back to class with the government’s current plan?
