An accident has claimed the life of a worker at the Mercer pulp mill in Peace River.
Mercer International says in a statement that the person was an employee of an independent contractor at their mill, the victim was a 53 year old man.
They say the accident happened Saturday and that Mercer has initiated an incident investigation and is fully cooperating with the authorities.
On Thursday, the plant had finished its two-week-long annual shutdown to complete several construction projects, the contractor was connected to work related to the maintenance shutdown.
