With the recent rainfall, the fire risk has been reduced, but areas of exposed cured fuels are still a wildfire risk. The Fire Hazard is still HIGH, so the Fire Ban will be downgraded to a Fire Restriction within the borders of the MD #133 of Spirit River. This is effective immediately.

The open burning of heavy fuels is still not allowed at this time within the MD of Spirit River. The MD asks residents to be cautious when using dry cured fuels in activities.

Safe campfires are now allowed in campground or residential fire pits. In the back country or random camping areas, no campfires, open fires, or charcoal briquettes are allowed. Gas or propane stoves and barbeques are allowed.

As always, make sure that your campfire is completely extinguished when you leave it (Soak It, Stir It, Soak It Again).

Please clear debris from hot spots on your Off-Highway Vehicle (Knock It Off).

The Fire Restriction will be in effect until conditions improve further. If the fire hazard worsens, a complete fire ban will be re-issued.

If there are any questions about these restrictions, please contact the MD Administrative office at (780)-864-3500.
