ATB Financial says there were more Albertans collecting Employment Insurance in November than in the previous month. Numbers from Statistics Canada show they went up to 28,980, which is 300 more than in October. However, despite the increase, numbers also show the number declined year-over-year in November by 3.2 percent. As well, EI claims in Alberta rose by close to six percent in November, which ATB says could be signs that lower oil prices are starting to show into the numbers. But interestingly, despite the higher number of EI claims, StatsCan’s Labour Force Survey figures show Alberta actually gained 5,700 jobs that month.
