We’re a step closer to another season for the NWJHL taking place.

All six teams can start training camps, and the North Peace Navigators will have their’s from October 2-4.

As for how many players will be at camp, Navs GM Mike Fosty says that’s still up in the air right now.

“Hopefully we have a good turnout. The maximum you can have is about 50 people so we’ll see what happens when the day comes in what we have for numbers. We’re planning on going on the Friday night of October 2 to start.”

The league put out a statement this week saying they want to have exhibition games starting in mid-October.

Fosty says that’s not set in stone just yet.

“That’s what the league has laid out right now, it may change depending on what happens with COVID and Hockey Alberta. It’s just a starting point for us as a league to hopefully get going on this season, but everything can change at the drop of a hat.”

Fosty adds they hope to have a game at the Baytex Energy Centre on October 10, that’s when they’ll unveil the bronze statue of the late Darcy Haugan.
