The Wheatbelt Baseball League has their season underway.
League Commissioner Dave Allen says they some new things for fans to see, including a new team in the league.
“We’ve got the Sexsmith Rainers who have put a team back in the league this year. They’re actually one of the original teams that was around back in 1938 when the league got started. They haven’t been in the league for a number of years now but they’ve got a team together and got a diamond in shape in Sexsmith there to use so we’re quite excited about them being in the league this year.”
Also new for this season, Allen says all the teams will be doing online streaming broadcasts of their games.
“The app that we use for the scheduling and the scoring for the media and for folks online to have a look and see what’s going on is called GameChanger, and we’ve basically signed up on the premium package this year which means that we’re allowed to do live streaming. They can now video games and what’s going on on the field and people online can tune in to it.”
