The North Peace Housing Foundation is looking to develop affordable housing for seniors in the Peace Country. Executive Director Richard Walisser says the foundation, which was founded in 1995, currently operates in four major business areas across the region, including in the Towns of Peace River, Fairview and Grimshaw. Walisser says they’re currently building a project in the Westview area adjacent to the Peace River Community Health Centre. He says they want to develop a seniors housing community surrounding the area, which will incorporate several levels of care, and have independent seniors be in close proximity to any health care facility. Walisser says the population of seniors are going to skyrocket in the area within the next few years.
