Kichton Construction has advised the Town of Peace River on behalf of Alberta Transportation overnight construction will commence later this month. The company repair and reinforcing the slope along the edge of the Old Highway 2 off ramp in Peace River which connects to Highway 684 (Shaftesbury Trail).

Officials say to facilitate the timely completion of work, the overnight work is necessary. The work will include drilling of anchors in the exposed south slope and other various tasks.

Heavy machinery will be used to conduct the work, which may generate some noise. Kichton along with its partners for the project say they will take the utmost care and precautions to make sure it’s not a disturbance that will negatively impact the public in the surrounding area.

The projected start date for night shift is November 25 with the end date slotted for January 31, 2022. Christmas break will be between December 23 – January 3. The dates are an approximation for the timeline with the possibility of unforeseen circumstances and weather delays.

The area where construction is happening has posted signage and barricaded off for the public’s safety.
