Peace River Curtis Marshall Skatepark

Some financial support is coming for the Curtis Marshall Memorial Skatepark Committee.  The Town of Peace River and Northern Sunrise County are each putting forward 50-thousand dollars.  The money will be held in reserve until enough is raised by the group to start construction.  Committee President Kris Scobey says the group have been keeping the effort going for a few years through aggressive fundraising, including what he described as their fair share of grassroots projects.  A couple of examples Scobey lists include working Peacefest for the past few years, as well as delivering phone books in blizzard-type weather.  He says companies like Canadian Tire have also helped.  In this case, Canadian Tire plans to use funds from their JumpStart Program to buy equipment for less fortunate kids once the park is open.
