Peace River & District Chamber of Commerce Davis Awards

The annual Davis Awards were handed out at the Sawridge Inn and Suites in Peace River this past Saturday.  The Peace River & District Chamber of Commerce started things off with their AGM at 5 PM, followed by a wine and cheese reception, and then the awards itself.  This year’s Business of the Year award went to Avenge Energy Services Incorporated.  CEO Jeremy Hand says lots of work went into helping the community.  He says they brainstormed ideas on how to give back to the community.  Hand says they gave back 47-thousand dollars last year, and hoped to double it this year, which he says they achieved.  He adds when he looked in the ledger, the totals were at about 100-thousand dollars.  Other finalists for Business of the Year included Kenry Electric Limited and Overhead Door.  Chamber of Commerce General Manager Kelly Kotulak says this year’s voting process was different from previous years.  She says first, the directors got all the nominees together and narrowed each award down to three finalists.  She adds a second committee of general members then picked the winners.
