The Town of Peace River is looking for physicians. To help with recruitment they’ve formed a new physician recuritment and retention committee. Councillor Tanin Behnke says that council has just approved a draft terms of reference, and that will be going out to municipalities in the area that would have a vested interest in the committee. They would then review and provide feedback at which point a group will be put together and they would have their first meeting. Behnke says it’s something the town should have done long ago. She looks to the community of Grimshaw as an example of how successful such a committee can be. Behnke adds that there is lots of competition among the rural communities when it comes to physician recruitment.
