With school buildings closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Peace River School Division is donating grant money it cannot use.

The division announced its remaining funds from Alberta Education’s nutrition fund are being shared between 15 community organizations.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has no doubt created many challenges and hardships for families in our communities and we are grateful to have the opportunity to help in this way” says Superintendent Paul Bennett.

“We wish to thank all the organizations receiving the grant funding for their time, work and coordination to ensure the funds help community members in this time of need.”

With in-school classes being put on hold, Alberta Education had been suggesting divisions within the province share the excess funds with community organizations in need.

Here is a list of the 15 community groups getting some of the $203,744.
