RCMP Investigating Firearm Pointed At Moving Vehicle

A man from Fort Vermilion has been charged after an incident where a firearm was allegedly pointed at a moving vehicle.

RCMP officers received a 9-1-1 call on Friday evening, the victims were travelling on Highway 697 when they were passed by a vehicle driving dangerously.

The suspect allegedly had a firearm pointed out the window at them, and a second incident involving the suspect and the victim also happened in Fort Vermilion.

Police would later arrest the suspect without incident. RCMP are still continuing their investigation.

Ty Cardinal (21) of Fort Vermilion has been charged with:

· Dangerous Operation – Sect. 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code
· Pointing a firearm – Sect. 87 of the Criminal Code
· Unauthorized possession of a firearm – Sect. 91(1) of the Criminal Code
· Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose – Sect. 88(1) of the Criminal Code
· Using imitation firearm in commission of offence – Sect. 85(2) of the Criminal Code

He’s been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Fort Vermilion provincial court on September 15.
